Creating art is not just for an exclusive part of humans that were born with the “talent" to do that!
I think the notion of talent in art has created this exclusivity that scares many people of and that don’t even try. Even though they would love to and the have a great interest. From my holistic perspective on becoming an artist, I want to leave aside the notion of talent because it's not useful to focus on it, whether we are very talented or not. Putting our focus on other aspects is much more constructive!
I find, having an interest in something is already magical, it’s definitely an indicator that we need to give it at least a shot. Interest, whether it's a profound passion or not, is spiritually speaking already an indicator that we might to be meant to do something. Trusting this interest and seeng wether it turns into a passion, is really worth it.
Then, it depends also if you are willing and able to put in all the hours that it takes.
But the first thing is the admitting.
“Each of us has an inner dream that we can unfold if we will just have the courage to admit what it is. And the faith to trust our own admission. The admitting is often very difficult.”
Julia Cameron
But why is the admitting the most difficult? Admitting our inner dreams requires us to confront the possibility of failure, and it makes us very vulnerable.
Confronting that vulnerability takes courage. Courage is not something that you have you don't have in a definitive way! Courage is the result of many little courageous actions. The difference in making a change is in the doing. And the same thing is for art. It's in the creating. Artwork after artwork after artwork...
